Explore Digital Safety in Tweetchat on Feb. 5

In honor of Digital Learning Day, NAESP is hosting a tweetchat on digital safety and citizenship on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, from 8 to 9 p.m. (Eastern).

February 5 is Digital Learning Day, a national celebration of innovative technology and learning. As school leaders, principals are the catalysts of schoolwide technology shifts.

But with greater access to new tools comes greater responsibility for keeping students safe. In NAESP’s #digisafety tweetchat, principals are invited to discuss digital citizenship and safety, exploring questions such as:

  • How can educators boost their own digital literacy?
  • What resources do parents need to help their children stay safe online?
  • What digital citizenship guidelines should schools set?
  • What are the elements of a good Acceptable Use Policy?

To help guide the discussion, chat participants are invited to read Sandra Trach’s Principal magazine article, “Safe Digital Citizenship” (November/December 2013).  Trach, principal of Estabrook Elementary School in Lexington, Massachusetts, will help moderate the #digisafety chat and field questions from participants.

Join the chat on February 5 by following the hashtag #digisafety. Tweet questions for Trach to @naesp.
