Principals Prepare to Advocate for PD Funding

Principals Prepare to Advocate for PD Funding

On Tuesday, August 29, NAESP is sponsoring a Title II National Day of Action along with other national organizations representing educators, or teachers and principals, to stop the program from being eliminated in the FY 2018 budget.

Early Tuesday morning  an alert will be sent to all NAESP members to contact their Congressional lawmakers as they get ready to return to Washington to consider funding for federal agencies and programs in education. We hope that you will take action and lead in your states and communities through the NAESP Legislative Action Center. All Pre-K-8 principals are invited to take action and join the discussion to raise awareness of the importance of Title II, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which provides states and districts with formula funds to support teacher and principal recruitment, preparation and on-going professional learning opportunities. Congress must know the strong support for Title II, Part A funds and the program must be funded at the ESSA-authorized level that was agreed to in the bipartisan law.

We also encourage you to check out the webinar NAESP is co-hosting on Monday if you would like to hear more about how Title II, Part A funds can be used to support effective professional learning and improve student outcomes. You can find more information here or sign-up on the Learning Policy Institute's website.

NAESP and several other organizations are also spreading the word on Title II through social media using #FundTitleIIA. We encourage you to make your voice heard, and to amplify our message by joining the Title II National Day of Action Thunderclap.

Thank you in advance for your time on Tuesday related to this important advocacy priority, we need your voice on behalf of the profession!
