Last week, the U.S. Department of Education launched "Together for Tomorrow: A School Improvement Challenge," which aims to strengthen community involvement in neighborhood schools. Schools, school districts, higher education institutions, and nonprofits are invited to submit an initiative that engages key community stakeholders, like businesses, community and faith-based organizations, and local governments.
30 winners (over three categories) will be nationally recognized, and representatives will be invited to a White House event. This is not a grant program, but a springboard for coordination between communities and schools.
Proposals can be submitted through June 29 by visiting http://tft.challenge.gov. Visit this Frequently Asked Questions page for more information.
