Announcing NAESP Director At Large,
Middle-level, Minority Vacancy

A message from NAESP President Brian K. Partin:

The NAESP Board of Directors has announced the resignation of Dr. Schwanda Jackson from her position as the At Large, Middle-level, Minority Director effective August 9, 2017.

Schwanda was a terrific principal representative on the Board and a vocal advocate for ensuring a quality education for all children. Schwanda has accepted a position as Director of Instructional Services within her school district. She is very excited to take on this new leadership role. We wish her the very best and much success in her new position.

NAESP Bylaws stipulate that the NAESP Board of Directors elect a member in the same at-large category to serve the remainder of the unexpired term. We expect to give another outstanding principal the opportunity to complete Dr. Jackson’s term, which concludes on July 31, 2019.

Therefore, in accordance with established procedures, this is the official announcement of the Director At Large, Middle-level, Minority vacancy to be filled. Interested members may apply to fulfill this unexpired term by requesting the electronic Prospective Candidate Data Form from NAESP Governance Services Director, Jennifer Shannon, (jshannon@naesp.org). The deadline for submitting the Prospective Candidate Data form for the Director At Large, Middle-level, Minority position is October 2, 2017.

The NAESP Steering Committee will review all applications received by October 9, 2017, and recommend no more than two candidates to the NAESP Board of Directors. The Board of Directors will review the recommendation of the Steering Committee and elect a candidate to the vacant position at the NAESP Board of Directors Meeting held on October 11, 2017. The NAESP President will notify the candidate of his/her election to the NAESP Board of Directors and the effective date of the beginning of the term.
