Principals to Build Playground for Students at Nashville’s Inglewood Elementary
Nearly 100 principals, NAESP, and Landscape Structures participate in Community Service Day as part of NAESP’s 2014 Annual Conference.
Alexandria, VA—July 7, 2014—Elementary and middle-level principals from around the nation will come together on Wed., July 9, to build a new playground at a Nashville elementary school during the National Association of Elementary School Principals’ (NAESP) sixth annual Community Service Day. The project is part of NAESP’s 2014 Best Practices for Better Schools Annual Conference & Exposition, which is being held July 10-12 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. The project is sponsored by NAESP and playground equipment supplier and corporate partner Landscape Structures.
What: 100 K-8 principals from around the nation will volunteer at a Nashville's Inglewood Elementary School, installing new playground equipment, including a zip line-like component called the ZipKrooz and the OmniSpin® spinner.
Where: The service project will take place at Inglewood Elementary School, 1700 Riverside Drive, Nashville, TN 37216.
When: Wed., July 9, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Inglewood Elementary School is a vibrant neighborhood school in East Nashville serving a diverse population of 350 students. Through personalized learning and strong character education, school leadership and faculty work hard to equip students with the academic and social skills to be successful in college, career, and life. That includes an Encore program for gifted students, English learner services, and a mentoring program that fosters positive relationships between students and adults. The school also enjoys robust parent and community support through an involved PTO and several community partners.
Carrie Mickle, principal of Inglewood Elementary, is delighted to be the recipient of this year’s Community Service Day project and grateful to volunteers, NAESP, and Landscape Structures for making this generous gift happen. “Inglewood Elementary is a neighborhood school serving bright and energetic students who will benefit greatly from this new playground,” said Mickle. “The ZipKrooz™ is one of the first in the area, and will be a draw to families to check out Inglewood Elementary and discover the exciting things taking place in our part of Nashville.”
